It’s the beginning of a new year and many, if not most, people have at least some random thoughts about the coming year: what they'd like to accomplish this year or what they'd like to change in their lives. Are there areas you'd like to improve upon? Goals you want to work harder toward? Dreams you want to achieve? For me, as the clock ticks forward in time for all of us, I sense an increasing urgency to do all I can to impact this world for Jesus Christ and be used by Him to bring others into His kingdom for all eternity.

What about you? What is your priority for your life? Do you, too, have that urgent sense that time is ticking away and running out?

Also at this time of year, if you're a football fan, time is ticking toward the Super Bowl. Maybe your team is already out of the running. But maybe you're hoping your team will make it all the way. (Go Broncos!)

I've heard athletes and coaches urge each other on saying, "Leave it all on the field!" This means leave everything you've got out there – all your energy, all your skills, everything you've learned, everything you've gained through your experiences. All of it. Expend it. Use it. Leave it out there. Don't "save" some of it for the next game. Don't sit on the sidelines and keep it to yourself. Get out there on the field and give it all you've got!

In Nancy’s post on 11/30/14 titled "The Night is Almost Gone," these inspiring words:

Ask God to reveal to you what your role is in sounding the alarm. You may not be a prophet, but you are a redeemed, beloved disciple who is called to be salt and light.  Be sure your alarm is not droning on unheeded, first. Then, get serious about your part in touching a wounded, bleeding world who needs the Light of Christ.

I don't want to get to eternity and think: I wish I would have tried harder.

  • I wish I wouldn't have been afraid to tell someone about Jesus.
  • I wish I wouldn't have let that opportunity to talk about Jesus go by (Ephesians 6:19-20).
  • I wish I hadn't been embarrassed by or "ashamed of the gospel" (Romans 1:16).
  • I wish I would have tried harder, worked harder for the Kingdom of God.

When I get to eternity, I want to know I did everything I could to bring people to Jesus. I'm searching for and creating ways to do that. How might you do this?

Start with prayer. Ask God to guide you to where He wants you working. In what way has he perfectly designed you to reach out with His good news?

Next, study. Of all the books we can study, the Bible is first priority. Get a "through the Bible in a year" and read it daily. If you're behind or get behind, don't get discouraged. Just read two day’s worth until you're caught up. Attend a very good Bible study if you can. Also read other good books. Some of my favorite authors are Jonathan Cahn, Mark Blitz, the late Grant R. Jeffrey, Pastor John Hagee, and Dr. David Jeremiah.

Then, go out and make disciples. Find a way. What is your expertise in life? Where has God already placed you? Start there, unless He calls you elsewhere. Other ways you can share Jesus from where you are right now might include a blog like this one. You can use social media including Facebook, Instagram, and/or Twitter to reach people all over the world! I Tweet a lot and I get a lot of responses from people asking questions, including atheists, Muslims, and people of other faiths. You might be a speaker. A writer. An actor. (Karen Covell, Founding Director of the Hollywood Prayer Network says, "Hollywood is the most influential mission field on earth.") You might be a preacher, a secretary, a factory worker, or a waitress. Wherever you are, God has placed you there strategically so you can reach a specific sphere of people whom no one else can reach.

I believe 2015 will be an important year. Every year is important of course, but some years we can foresee events that will make it different and perhaps more important than others in history, such as election years. In 2015, for the second year in a row we will witness a total lunar eclipse on the first and the last of the seven annual Jewish holy days (on Passover, April 4, and the Feast of Tabernacles, September 28, 2015). There will also be a total solar eclipse seen in certain parts of the world (March 20, 2015). I believe these events are incredibly important spiritually – signs from God. Do others think I'm crazy? Sure. And I hear from them. But I believe it. So I'm leaving it all out there on the field. I'm talking about it and blogging about it and Tweeting and Facebooking about it because I hope my efforts might save some (1 Corinthians 9:19-23).

Someone once asked another believer, "How do you want to leave this world?"

The answer came back, "Exhausted."

That’s what I want to do: I want to leave it all here. Every ounce of energy. Every moment of time. Every opportunity exploited to the full. (I've missed enough of those already. I want to do better from here on out.)

What will you prayerfully plan to do in 2015 in order to "leave it all on the field for Jesus Christ"?
